GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Rosary High School volleyball coach Lisa Kasper announced Monday she is stepping down after 18 years with the program — the last 13 as the head varsity coach. Kasper won 10 regional championships and two conference titles during her tenure. She leaves with a record of 312-159-6.

Stacey Perinar certainly got rowdy when she was on the court. The senior outside hitter finished among the state leaders with 405 kills to help the Indians to a 29-5 record and a second straight Class 4A Sweet Sixteen appearance. The 6-foot Perinar also had 49 aces, 24 blocks, and 162 digs and was named MVP of the Southwest Prairie, helping her team to a 14-0 conference mark.

St. Charles East and Marist most definitely didn’t go through the motions in Saturday’s Class 4A third-place match at Redbird Arena. The biggest lead either enjoyed all night was four points. There were 26 ties, 16 in Game 3.There also was a lot of satisfaction on both sides after St. Charles East prevailed 25-23, 22-25, 25-21.

Lyons’ Alexis Viliunas finished the regular season with 272 kills, 551 assists, 43 aces and 278 digs. The 6-1 senior had 13 kills and 18 assists in a 25-22, 21-25, 25-23 loss to Marist in the Class 4A supersectional at Hinsdale South. For her efforts, Viliunas has been named the 2011 Sun-Times Player of the Year.
